The Big Blue Wave of 2024 - 24" x 30"
Surging with movement, this big blue wave is comprised of over 120 different cotton fabric swatches in blue, green, teal, aqua, gray, black, white, and even a touch of magenta to keep things interesting. Each piece of fabric was backed with an adhesive webbing that has been permanently steamed into place onto a 24” x 30” stretched canvas.
While creating this raw edge fabric collage, I was listening to an audio book for which the setting was the sea. As a result, I got swept up in both the plot as well as the wave that I was building piece by piece.
Like a wave, an idea crests. If you're fast enough, you can capture it at its glorious apex just before it falls.
I’m tickled to share that The Big Blue Wave won two awards in a 10/24 Chicagoland art show: the Team Award from the people who coordinate the event, and the People’s Choice Award that was determined by the attendees!
