The Forever Gift of Spring: 24" x 24"
As a means of conquering the northern Illinois cold, I typically immerse myself in creating floral fabric collages from January through March since they make me warm and happy. At least temporarily, this piece will be propped up on a nearby chair in my studio emitting gloriously sunny spring vibes.
I’ve always loved the color trifecta of royal purple, peaceful green, and vibrant orange. Evenly spaced on the color wheel, they lend visual balance and harmony when used together.
In the creation of this fabric collage, I used swatches from over a dozen purple and orange fabrics, and nearly double that of green material. As you can see in the photo of my purple fabric choices, I typically line up my fabrics from dark to light to more easily select the appropriate shade as I move along and to ensure that they blend well together.
This raw edge fabric collage was adhered directly onto a 24” x 24” stretched canvas and permanently steamed it into place.
